In Zen, “…the ideas of the poet should be noble and simple.” My oil paintings, influenced by these concepts, are also entrenched in the formal properties of the painting process—color, edge, space and form. Colors transfuse the surface in magical ways reflecting the way people are deeply impacted by the colors they live with and how it ‘colors’ worldview. I layer paint until it resonates the right note. Deep listening, like with poetry, is fundamental for my reductive color fields.
