There was a time I traveled the Great Southwest of the United States in search of the one defining image that no one else has documented. I loved this search but realized that this was probably not going to happen.

I turned inward, metaphysically and into the studio, to create spaces or locations no one has seen before. I looked to the garden and found a plethora of flora that I pondered over and dissected for the minutia and the landscape within. I searched for the alchemic conversion that often occurs when the artist points their creative force towards an object or idea.  In the case of the Deconstructed series this conversion happens somewhere between the collection of materials and objects, my determination of the validity of their expressive qualities, the creation of the original still life and the digital process of applying “paint” to the image that the camera captures.

The result of this research is the Deconstructed series, the labor of three years, of the joy of discovering that creativity is as close as my backyard and that creativity happens wherever and whenever one so desires. One need only put one's senses and mind to the task.
