In 2015, I began a photographic study of a small natural setting, intending to document the setting over an extended period. Over time, I became more and more drawn to the photographs I made in blowing wind, and from those negatives, I created the first series, “Of Light and Wind.”

The work in the current exhibition, “Of Light and Wind: Trade Winds,” grew out of the initial series and focuses on photographs of the wind blowing across water in that same setting. The inspiration for the form these works took was a persistent vision of a rock being dropped in water and the subsequent movement upward and outward. Knowing that even the slightest action carries on indefinitely led me to create works that suggest both the minute and the immense in constant movement.
